Without irrigation, lawns go crispy and newly planted shrubs and trees struggle or die in their first summer. Pop-up sprinklers are best for lawns—even coverage, low profile when off. Drip irrigation goes in garden beds, hedges, and containers, delivering water right at the roots with almost no evaporation loss. A smart controller (Rachio, Hunter Hydrawise) ties it all together, pulling local Vancouver weather data to skip watering on rainy days and adjust automatically through the seasons. Most full systems use all three.

A basic single-zone lawn system starts around $2,500. A typical full residential system with 4–8 zones covering lawn and garden beds runs $4,500–$9,000. Adding smart controllers, flow meters, and rain sensors is an extra $400–$900. Drip-only systems for garden beds are cheaper (often $1,500–$3,500) and a great option for homeowners with no lawn to water.

Is winterization necessary in Vancouver, and what's involved?

Yes—while we don't freeze like the Prairies, hard frosts and cold snaps happen every winter, and water left in lines cracks pipes, valves, and backflow preventers. Every October–November we blow out your system with compressed air, shut off the backflow, and winterize any exposed components. Spring start-up in March–April includes leak checks and head adjustments. We include both visits in annual service packages.

Do you handle the design, install, and ongoing service yourself?

Yes—Landscapify has in-house irrigation technicians certified through the Irrigation Industry Association of BC. We design hydro-zones based on your plants' actual water needs (not just where sprinklers fit), install everything ourselves, and offer annual service contracts. All installs come with a 5-year workmanship warranty and manufacturer warranties on components (Hunter, Rain Bird, Rachio). Required backflow preventer testing is included in your annual service.
