If you’ve spent a winter scraping ice off your windshield at 6 AM, you already know why a carport pays for itself. We design and build custom carports in cedar, aluminum, and powder-coated steel — engineered for Pacific Northwest rain, snow loads, and wind, fully permitted, and built to look like part of your house instead of a hardware-store afterthought.

Why a carport instead of a garage?

• Cost. A carport is typically 30–50% cheaper than a fully-enclosed garage of the same footprint. You’re paying for posts, beams, and a roof — not walls, doors, foundation slabs, drywall, and electrical rough-in.
• Speed. A garage is a 4–8 month project once permits clear. A carport is 5–10 days on site.
• Setback flexibility. Some Metro Vancouver zoning bylaws allow carports closer to property lines than fully-enclosed structures, which can be the difference between fitting two cars and one.
• Doubles as outdoor living. A 24x20 cedar carport with the cars out is a covered patio. We’ve built carports clients now use as summer dining areas, dry workshop space, and rainy-day kid zones.

What we build

We are not a kit-installer. Every carport we build is custom-designed for your driveway, drainage, and home architecture:

• Cedar post-and-beam carports — Western Red Cedar 6x6 posts and 4x10 or larger beams, traditional joinery, stained or left to weather to silver.
• Powder-coated steel-framed carports — engineered steel I-beams or HSS posts, modern look, 50+ year life.
• Aluminum carports — lighter-duty but lowest-cost and zero-maintenance.
• RV and boat carports — 12 to 14-foot clear height, longer spans, reinforced for boat/RV weight transfer.
• Attached carports — ledger-mounted to your house with proper flashing and structural connection.
• Freestanding carports — fully independent, useful when attaching isn’t an option due to roofline or setback.

Built right, the first time

A carport that fails in 5 years was almost always built without footings, without engineering, or without proper post-base hardware. We don’t take shortcuts:

• Concrete footings to frost-line depth — never surface-mounted post bases
• Galvanized post-base hardware — no direct soil contact, ever
• Engineered beams sized for snow load — Vancouver minimum 40 psf, higher on North Shore
• Stainless or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners — coatings fail in 10 years; stainless lasts forever
• Proper roof drainage — gutters and downspouts that tie into existing drainage or a French drain
• Permitted and inspected — every carport is engineered, drawn, submitted, and inspected by your municipality

From quote to parking under it

Our typical build is 5–10 working days on site once permits are approved. Permit approval from your municipality takes 3–6 weeks; we handle the full submission. Most clients are parking under their new carport within 2 months of signing.
